Rafael Romero joined the CREC team as Associate Vice President in 2014 and was quickly promoted to Vice President. He brings 7 years of experience to CREC’s dynamic retail team. Mr. Romero handles landlord representation for multiple premier shopping centers and high-street retail projects in the South Florida market, including Downtown Dadeland, the Alfred I. DuPont Building in Downtown Miami, Red Road Commons and Gables Grand in Coral Gables, Miller Square Shopping Center in Kendall, and LA Fitness Plaza in Palm Beach Gardens. He is a key member of the retail leasing team involved in the transformation and revitalization of Downtown Dadeland in East Kendall. Mr. Romero helped shape and implement the vision of the project by procuring and negotiating lease transactions with multiple award winning chef driven restaurant concepts and complementary service providers.

Prior to joining CREC, Mr. Romero served two years as a Leasing Representative at Simon Property Group in Miami, Florida. During this time, his responsibilities consisted of seeking retail tenants and negotiating lease terms for two of Simon’s high profile South Florida projects; Dadeland Mall (Miami, FL) and The Shops at Sunset Place (South Miami, FL). While at Simon, he successfully completed transactions with Apple, Estee Lauder, the US Open, The Villagio, Freshii, Mellow Mushroom, Jimmy John’s, REM Riviera, Adore, Aziari and Kara New York, among others.
Mr. Romero received an A.S. degree in Occupational Studies and Navigation from Thomas Edison State College. He is a licensed Florida Real Estate Broker, an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), serves as a volunteer counselor for SCORE, and is a graduate and designee of the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) program.
